HYDRO-RESTORING MASK – Detangling and Anti-Frizz
Detangling action on the hair, making it soft and shiny, promotes hydration and nourishment, repairing damaged hair.
HYDRO-RESTORING MASK Detangling Anti-Frizz with Provitamin B5 and Sage Essential Oil
The HYDRO-RESTORING MASK deeply hydrates the coat, making it soft and shiny, while performing a great detangling action. Capable of improving the combability of the coat, it has excellent antistatic properties and restores a fantastic natural texture from the first use . It does not require extensive rinsing because it does not weigh down and is not greasy. The presence of Provitamin B5 (Panthenol) promotes hydration and nourishment, repairing damaged coats, leaving them softer. Clary sage essential oil has various benefits for the skin, having an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial action and repairing skin tissue. A valid aid in combating dermatitis, it has antibiotic and antiseptic properties, making it a powerful natural disinfectant. It is also an excellent active ingredient, as it reduces the production of excess sebum. Also ideal for short and smooth coats to give shine and softness. For this reason, it is suitable for dogs of all breeds and for all coat types.
BENEFITS OF INGREDIENTS:
PROVITAMIN B5
Provitamin B5, commonly known as Panthenol, is a versatile "skin and coat savior" for dogs, prized for its dual role as both a humectant and an emollient. It works by attracting and locking in moisture, which significantly improves the texture, strength, and appearance of a dog's fur.
Key Benefits for the Coat
Topical application of Provitamin B5 directly transforms the hair shaft and cuticle.
Enhanced Shine and Softness: Panthenol smooths the hair cuticle, allowing light to reflect more evenly, which creates a glossy, lustrous appearance.
Reduced Breakage: By penetrating the hair shaft, it strengthens the structure of the hairs and improves elasticity, making the coat more resilient and less prone to brittleness or split ends.
Detangling and Manageability: It helps keep tangles at bay and improves overall coat condition, which is particularly beneficial for dogs with long or damaged fur.
Protection: It provides a protective layer that helps the coat resist mechanical impact and environmental stressors like wind and humidity.
Skin Health Support
Because a healthy coat begins with healthy skin, Provitamin B5 provides essential support to the underlying dermis.
Hydration Hero: It deeply hydrates the skin, making it softer and more supple while preventing dryness, flaking, and cracking.
Anti-Inflammatory Action: Panthenol has soothing properties that help calm redness, relieve itching (pruritus), and speed up the healing of minor scratches, insect bites, or irritations.
Barrier Support: It aids in regenerating the skin's protective lipid layer, which helps maintain the natural moisture barrier and reduces water loss.
SAGE ESSENTIAL OIL: can improve a dog's coat by reducing skin inflammation, combating fungal infections, and promoting a healthy shine. While common sage (Salvia officinalis) is also used, clary sage is often preferred in pet care for its gentler, more sedative properties.
Coat and Skin Health Benefits
Sage oil contains powerful antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that directly address common coat and skin issues in dogs.
Shine and Texture: Applying a highly diluted mixture to a dog's fur can enhance its natural shine and improve overall softness and texture.
Irritation and Itch Relief: Its anti-inflammatory properties, specifically from compounds like rosmarinic acid, help reduce redness and soothe allergy-prone or sensitive skin.
Dandruff and Flakiness: Sage oil can help manage flakiness and dryness, promoting a more comfortable and vibrant coat.
Antimicrobial Protection: Its natural antiseptic qualities help destroy harmful bacteria and fungi on the skin, which can prevent infections.
Cetearyl Alcohol is a plant-derived "fatty alcohol" (a mixture of cetyl and stearyl alcohols) that acts as a vital emulsifier and texture enhancer in dog cosmetics.
In products like our Hydration mask —which combine oils (Sage, Vitamin E) with water-based nutrients (Provitamin B5)—it serves several critical roles:
The "Glue" of the Formula (Emulsifier) Without an emulsifier, the botanical oils and water in a dog conditioner would separate. Cetearyl Alcohol holds these ingredients together, creating a stable, uniform cream that ensures your dog gets an equal amount of sage oil and vitamins in every squeeze
Deep Conditioning & Softening - Unlike "drying" alcohols (like ethanol), Cetearyl Alcohol is an emollient.
Smoothing: It fills in the gaps in a damaged hair cuticle, making the coat feel instantly velvety and soft
Moisture Lock: It creates a non-greasy protective barrier on the skin that prevents "transepidermal water loss," helping to heal dry, flaky skin
Improving "Slip" and Spreadability - Ease of Application: It gives a "pearlized" look and a thick, rich consistency, allowing the product to glide through thick fur easily
Detangling: It provides the mechanical "slip" needed to slide a comb through knots, reducing the physical stress on the dog during grooming
Safety for Dogs - Non-Irritating: It is widely considered safe for canine use and is a staple in "sensitive skin" and "hypoallergenic" pet formulas
Biodegradable: Most Cetearyl Alcohol used in high-end pet care is derived from coconut or palm oil, making it an eco-friendly choice
Lauryl Myristyl Alcohol (often listed as a C12-14 fatty alcohol blend) is a non-drying, plant-derived ingredient used to improve coat texture and skin hydration. Unlike harsh drying alcohols like isopropyl, this "fatty alcohol" acts as a protective emollient that benefits your dog's grooming routine in several ways:
Coat and Skin Benefits - Deep Conditioning: It smooths the hair cuticle, reducing frizz and improving the elasticity of the fur to prevent breakage.
Moisture Retention: It forms a light, breathable film over the skin and hair, which locks in hydration and prevents the "dried-out" feeling often caused by standard soaps.
Detangling Support: By providing "slip" to the fur, it makes brushing easier and reduces matting in long-haired breeds.
Skin Soothing: As an emollient, it helps soften the skin, which can alleviate minor itching or flakiness.
Role in Grooming Products
In a shampoo or conditioner formulation, Lauryl Myristyl Alcohol serves multiple technical purposes:
Thickening Agent: It gives products a rich, creamy consistency that is easier to spread evenly across a thick coat.
Emulsifier: It helps stabilize the blend of oils and water, ensuring the active ingredients (like the Sage oil or Provitamin B5 you mentioned earlier) stay properly mixed for maximum effectiveness.
Cleansing Support: It can act as a gentle surfactant, helping to lift dirt without stripping away the essential natural oils that protect a dog's skin microbiome.
Safety Note - Lauryl Myristyl Alcohol is widely considered safe and non-toxic for dogs when used in topical grooming products. It is derived from natural sources like coconut or palm kernel oil, making it a popular choice for eco-friendly or sensitive-skin pet brands.
VITAMIN E
In dog cosmetics, Vitamin E (often listed as Tocopherol) is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin and coat from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. It is widely used in shampoos and conditioners to neutralize environmental damage from UV rays and pollution, while also serving as a natural preservative for the product itself.
Skin and Coat Protection
Vitamin E acts as a defensive shield for a dog's external health by combating cellular damage.
Antioxidant Armor: It scavenges free radicals that can cause premature aging and cellular breakdown in the skin.
UV and Pollutant Defense: Topical application helps shield the hair and scalp from the harsh effects of UV radiation, preventing the coat from becoming dry and brittle.
Collagen Support: The body uses Vitamin E to form collagen fibers, which are essential for developing healthy hair and resilient skin.
Moisturizing and Healing Properties
Beyond its antioxidant role, Vitamin E is a highly effective conditioning agent.
Deep Hydration: It penetrates the hair shaft to replenish lost moisture, enhancing natural shine and making the fur softer and more manageable.
Relief for Irritated Skin: Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe itching from allergies or dermatitis and can be applied directly to dry patches, cracked noses, and paw pads.
Barrier Support: Vitamin E helps maintain the skin's lipid barrier, which locks in hydration and protects against environmental irritants.
Product Preservation
Natural Preservative: In organic and natural dog cosmetics, Tocopherol is one of the few ingredients used to reduce the rate of oxidation, preventing botanical oils in the formulation from going rancid.
Hydroxypropyl Bis-Hydroxyethyl Dimonium Chloride is a specialized, high-performance cationic conditioning agent (a quaternary ammonium salt) used in professional dog grooming products to provide superior detangling and coat repair.
Unlike standard silicones that can cause heavy buildup, this ingredient is highly substantive, meaning it bonds specifically to the damaged, negatively charged areas of the hair shaft to smooth it out.
Key Benefits for the Dog's Coat
Intense Detangling: It provides exceptional "slip," making it much easier to brush through stubborn mats and knots without causing pain to the dog.
Anti-Static Effect: It neutralizes the static electricity that often causes "flyaway" fur, especially in long-haired or fine-coated breeds like Yorkies or Maltese.
Weightless Moisture: It acts as a powerful humectant, drawing moisture into the hair fiber to restore elasticity without leaving a greasy residue.
Gloss and Softness: By smoothing the outer cuticle layer, it allows light to reflect better, giving the coat a deep, healthy-looking shine.
Why It’s Used in "Advanced" Formulas
In the context of the other ingredients like Sage oil, Provitamin B5, and Vitamin E, this component acts as the "delivery vehicle."
Co-Emulsification: It helps stabilize the blend of botanical oils and vitamins, ensuring they are evenly distributed across the fur.
Wash-Off Resistance: Because it is "cationic," it stays attached to the hair even after rinsing, providing lasting protection and softness between baths.
Safety Note - This ingredient is considered safe and non-irritating for canine skin when formulated correctly. It is often chosen for "tearless" or "sensitive skin" formulas because it is much gentler than older-generation conditioning salts (like Steartrimonium Chloride).
